Technical description JPC-7

The JPC-7 from Chelegance is a shortened, rigid portable dipole (aka "Rotary Dipole") for the bands 40m to 6m. When assembled, the span of the dipole is 6.56 m, disassembled it is only about 35 cm in transport length with a low weight of 1.8 kg.

Power is supplied via the included 1:1 balun with PL connector. The dipole arms are attached to the antenna base and are adjustable in inclination. Thus, different designs can be realized, e.g. horizontal or V-shaped. The two coils with side taps allow easy quick band selection, supported by markings for the 20 and 40 m bands.

The centre section has a receptacle for an NPT 1/2" thread at the bottom. This means that this centre section fits on the Buddipole and Mastwerks masts, as well as on all other systems with an NPT 1/2" thread.

The situation is different with the three 3/8" threads for holding the antenna elements on the centre section. Here the JPC-7 antenna uses the 3/8"-16 UNC thread, whereas most other suppliers use the 3/8"-24 UNF thread. This means that telescopes and antenna segments from other manufacturers do not fit this centre section (and vice versa).

The sophisticated concept of the JPC-7 allows very short setup times while providing the directivity of a rotatable dipole. The components of the antenna are screwed or plugged together, no tools are required for assembly. With the included adapter, the dipole can be placed on an existing tripod. 

After the transceiver is connected and the coils are set to the desired working frequency, nothing stands in the way of the first QSO. Tuning can be done by SWR meter and should be done with reduced output power (e.g. 10 watts, FM, AM or CW). 

All components can be stored clearly and protected in the compact transport bag, so this antenna is ideal for the next hike, motorcycle tour or the next vacation.
