Technical description PA162-10-5AV
The PA162-10-5AV is a vertically polarized receiving antenna for the 161.5 - 162.5 MHz frequency range with low smoke level. With its 26 elements and a boom length of just under 5 meters, a gain of 14.7 dBi is achieved with a forward/back ratio of 27 dB.
The connection is made by means of an N jack with an input impedance of 50 ohms. The boom can be disassembled into 2 parts for transport to achieve a transport length of about 2.50 meters.
Application description PA162-10-5AV
The AIS system was developed among other things to improve the safety in shipping. The frequencies 161.975 and 162.025 MHZ (corresponding to the marine radio channels 87B and 88B) are used.
The data transmitted includes the IMO number, ship name and call sign, position, course and speed, and navigational status. The evaluation of the received AIS traffic information is performed by an AIS receiver.
