The Chameleon LEFS 8010 is a lightweight, end-fed half-wave antenna (EFHW) for portable use on 8 shortwave bands. A 1:49 UnUn serves as a matching transformer, which is mounted on a practical winder/rewinder to protect it from the weather.

Two ultra-light antenna wires made of tinned copper with Teflon coating are available for operating the antenna. If you only want to work on the 40, 20, 17, 15, 12 or 10 m bands, it is sufficient to use the approximately 20 m long antenna wire. In this case, an SWR of 2:0:1 or better is achieved. If the 80 m and 30 m bands are also required, this wire element is simply extended with an additional piece of wire about 20 meters long to achieve a similar standing wave ratio. 

Antenna tuners, SWR meters or analyzers can therefore stay at home and you save valuable space and weight in your hiking rucksack or luggage.

Whether you want to take the LEFS 8010 with you to the next fieldday, for SOTA or POTA, a spontaneous trip into the countryside or on an expedition to faraway countries: Setting up and commissioning this impressive, minimalist antenna is very simple and quick: connect the coax cable to the PL connector, suspend the winder/rewinder with the integrated UnUn at a height of 4.6 - 7.6 m (depending on the configuration selected), and either attach the antenna wire horizontally (for NVIS communication over short to medium distances), or tension it downwards. Now nothing stands in the way of your first QSO.
