Technical description
The Hari wire vertical antennas are made of flexible steel wire. The monoband models for 80 or 160 m use extension coils in the radiator to limit the length to 10m. The multi-band antennas use oscillating circuits (traps) to be able to use several bands.
Lambda/4 radials are supplied as counterweights, one for each band. Power is supplied via a PL socket. The impedance is - depending on the angle between radiator and radial(s) - relatively low impedance, but you will need a tuner in some cases. However, the bandwidth is better (wider) compared to a dipole of the same design, because only one leg of the antenna is built with traps or an extension coil.
Application description
A vertical wire antenna has the great advantage that it can easily be set up at only one rigging point. Often a light mast such as a fishing rod is sufficient. This makes it an ideal holiday antenna, especially if you don't know what the local conditions are.
The radials are either laid flat on the ground or angled slightly from an elevated feed point, depending on what suspension is possible. Of course, you can also hang the antenna horizontally, like a dipole.
