Technical description MAT-1500PRO
The mAT-1500PRO is the new and revised version of the mAT-1500 tuner. The improvements include a lighter, high quality housing and additional interfaces to Yaesu, Icom, and Kennwod devices, including the corresponding operating modes. This allows the tuner to be controlled from the radio, reducing manual operation by the user.
In addition, 2 antennas can be connected simultaneously, and the corresponding buttons for switching (in receive mode) are placed on the front panel for easy access.
The mAT-1500PRO is specially designed for modern radios and is rated for transmit power up to 1500 watts (SSB) / 800 watts (digital modes) and a frequency range of 1.8 - 54 MHz. The tuning process is very fast, because once found values for a frequency are stored in the memory, in the best case it takes only 100 ms for the correct adjustment. The mAT-1500 has 16000 memory locations for this automatic.
Application description MAT-1500PRO
A special feature of the mAT-1500PRO automatic tuner is the loop through of the PTT line. So you can loop in the power amplifier behind the tuner, the tuner interrupts the PTT line to the power amplifier during the tuning process. This avoids tuning with high power, the relays of the tuner can not burn out. The prerequisite is that the tuner loops through the transmit signal (switches to bypass) when the PTT control is switched off.
The tuning range of the mAT-1500PRO tuner is about 6 to 1000 ohms, which corresponds to a SWR range of max. 10:1. This allows to match all coax fed antennas, e.g. a G5RV with a balun at the transition between two-wire line and coax cable, but also a wideband vertical antenna designed for the power. Thus, a comfortable antenna system can be built for the entire shortwave range.
Ready-made control cables are available for most Icom, Kenwood and Yaesu devices:
